2016 Caryn Renae
Sourced from high in the eastern Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley, the fruit for our 2016 vintage Sauvignon Blanc arrived at the winery packed with vibrant fruit flavors, intense aromatic character, and mouth-watering acidity. The grapes were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in French oak barrels. Immediately the varietal purity and expression came through during the fermentation. After primary fermentation, malo-lactic fermentation was inhibited in order to preserve the freshness and floral fragrance of the original fruit. The wine was aged for six months sur-lie, and then bottled in the early spring.
This young wine is pure pleasure in the glass, with subtle notes of flint, wet clay, and lemongrass mingling with the forward tropical and citrus notes that frame the wine. On the palate, the bracing acidity calls out for fresh seafood and a large body of water to pull up next to. While it will continue to open and evolve with time in the bottle, this latest vintage of our Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed straight away.
